“Their energy, passion and knowledge were second to none.”  – Melanie L., Prize Club Member

I believe in The Prize Club because it is a holistic approach to healthy living. The program integrates three important factors that contribute to healthy habits… fitness, nutrition, and lifestyle.  This program will give participants the long-term, sustainable answers they are looking for."   - Paige Whitmire, RD, LDN
Paige Whitmire, State College registered dietitian, nutritionist

Paige Whitmire, RD, LDN

Registered Dietitian and Prize Club Advisor
Paige recently completed her dietetic internship after earning her B.S. in Nutrition from the Pennsylvania State University in 2013.  Her nutrition work experiences include working with GIANT in-store nutritionists, inpatient and outpatient rotations at the Hershey Medical Center, as well as community programs such as WIC and Penn State Extension.  Paige also volunteered through the Penn State University Sports Nutrition Department, did nutrition counseling at the Bellefonte YMCA, and gave nutrition presentations to various high school sports teams.

Paige developed a love for nutrition through her experiences in sports. While at Penn State, Paige competed for the women’s varsity swim team where she was team captain, Big Ten champion, All-American, Olympic Trial qualifier and team record holder.  Paige looks forward to helping others find joy and better health through proper nutrition.

The Prize Club works for me because it reminds me that every little decision I make can have a positive impact on my life.  It is not a diet plan, nor a set of rules and regulations.  It is a path to follow."   - Joy Pate

Joy Pate

Joy Pate is a Professor at Penn State University, engaged in research and teaching. She is a reproductive biologist who finds motivation in the process of discovery and is rewarded by the outcomes of investigation. The strong desire to understand how things work transcends her research and teaching, and have provided a framework for continual improvement in her personal fitness program.

Joy came to One on One in 2009 with the goal of regaining her fitness after cancer treatment, with the specific need to address weight loss and bone health. One on One’s personalized approach fueled her motivation for fitness by teaching her how exercise directly affects specific long-term health issues. Joy was a member of the inaugural Prize Club group. Although skeptical at first, she found that the educational concepts conveyed in The Prize Club were powerful motivators of behavioral modification. Like discovery research, The Prize Club offered her the motivation to ask pertinent questions about understanding the reasons for the choices we make, and strategies to help us achieve desirable outcomes.

The Prize Club has been a rewarding experience for Joy, even beyond the scope of modifying eating habits. She feels honored to serve as a Prize Club Advisor, and is humbled by the motivation, successes and community of The Prize Club members.
